Kristen began practicing yoga roughly ten years ago. She fell in love with the yogic concept of bringing balance to all things opposite – the left and right sides of the body, the muscular and organic energies, the balance of the feet on the mat, the hands on the earth and most importantly – the balance of the ego and heart.

As her practice deepened, she found the works of B.K.S. Iyengar to be particularly inspiring. The intricacies of the asanas – the way the slightest adjustment of the physical form could open energetic pathways, create space where there was compression and bring harmony, where only chaos had existed, were nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Along with her physical practice, she began to study eastern philosophies while attending university. These teaching just "clicked" with her and she finally felt connected to her past.

While taking a semester off, she found her first teacher, Susan Hearn. Hearn was a true inspiration and encouraged Kristen, at the age of 19, to deepen her studies and become a certified teacher. Although it wasn't until 7 years later, Kristen finally enrolled in Cleveland Yoga's teacher training program and received her 220-hour certification.

Her teaching style blends alignment, breath, focus, sweat and love. She constantly challenges herself and her students to live yoga off the mat, where it counts the most. She is forever grateful to her many loving, inspiring and challenging teachers, to Susan Hearn for "planting the seed" and to Tami Schneider for nurturing, feeding and watching it grow. She thanks her mother for raising her with grace, her father for infusing her with strength and her brother for teaching her love.

She looks forward to meeting, practicing and challenging you all!
