Weekend long workshop and fundraiser celebrates studio’s anniversary
Wade Morissette and his twin sister, Alanis, discovered their passion for music at an early age. While Alanis followed a music-centric path, Wade also found a passion for yoga. When he realized he could combine both passions to inspire others, he knew he found his calling.
Today, Canadian-born Morissette is a musician, author, therapist and yoga instructor. Practicing and teaching yoga for 19 years, Morissette has completed lyengar, Classical Ashtanga and Ashtanga-Vinyasa yoga teacher training. He has studied Vinyasa, Viniyoga, Anusara, and Kriya yoga, as well as zazen, Vedic Chanting, and active movement and sound meditations with some of the best-known teachers in Canada, North America, and India. He is also a Reiki master, certified Phoenix Rising yoga therapist, and Viniyoga therapist. He leads teacher trainings, workshops, retreats, and music-dance evenings internationally. He is currently releasing his yoga book “Transformative Yoga: 5 Keys to Unlocking Inner Bliss.”
With features in Yoga Journal and Macleans Magazine and appearances on Entertainment Tonight Canada, BCTV and Toronto’s Yoga Series, CTV’s E Talk Daily Canada, and CBC Radio in Canada, Morissette has established himself as a sought-after yoga instructor and talented musician.
Chagrin Yoga will welcome Morissette to celebrate their third year anniversary on November 9 & 10. On Saturday, November 10 from 7-10 p.m., the studio will host a “Kirtan and Party” to benefit Tiger Prep, a local organization that prepares children with special needs for adulthood through fun and functional skills-based programming. Admission includes food, drinks, and a performance by Morissette. Tickets are $30.
During his visit, Morissette will also lead three workshops.
Friday, November 9
Rise to the Occasion Workshop
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Invigorate with a challenging set of sequences with the use of mantra (thought form) and sound (nada yoga) to leave the body feeling electric and alive! Build on foundations of grounding and meditation. This workshop will focus on apana into prana currents (grounding into spontaneous movement upwards). Leave feeling present and alert. One breath at a time.
Saturday, November 10
Summon Your Power
9:30 – 11:00 am
Ignite your fire that is within your core. Vinyasa movement postures linked with intention and precision of alignment. Find the most potent strength by summoning the feminine shakti quality as the basis of all your power. This dynamic workshop will re-unite you with this potent energy. Suitable for all levels – be prepared to work in this asana component.
Soften Your Heart
2:00 – 4:00 pm
Backbends are the key to moving softness into surrender. A series of backbends and intelligent sequencing guide the student on a journey into the “yielding” within the postures. All forms of powerful energy come from this place of letting the grace unfold as the mind is stilled and the soul is silenced. Suitable for those who have difficulty in relaxing.
This unique opportunity to meet and learn from Wade Morissette is just $35 (before November 8) or $40 (November 9 and 10), or sign up for all three workshops for $90. For more information or to register, call Chagrin Yoga at (440) 247-4884.
